The Marcy 3-Tier Dumbbell Rack is super strong, and easily holds my larger dumbbells. I currently have a pair of 8s, 30s, and 40s on the top tier, and 50s, and 60s taking up the middle tier. My 65s and 70s will be arriving early next week, and will take up the bottom tier [update, my 65s and 70s arrived - see picture]. This dumbbell rack not only looks impressive, it is impressive. There is absolutely no rocking at all. My dumbbells can be taken off the rack and placed back on the rack with ease. The steel is really strong, and even with heavy dumbbells, the rack does not flex. Assembly took me around 20 minutes. Using a ratchet will speed up the process when tightening the bolts. Secure the bolts tightly, but there is no need to over tighten.Very easy to assemble, very sturdy, and seems high quality. Rubber feet don’t look like the ones pictured, as they are just rubber box type plugs that fit over the ends of the lower bars to serve as simple shoes. No difference in stability though. Seems to fit an adequate number of dumbbells, but this unit is not adjustable, so some smaller and plastic sand dumbbells won’t fit. I’m very satisfied.Very easy to assemble, I did it by myself in less than 30 minutes. It is well made and very sturdy, I don’t have it completely full but have no doubt it will hold whatever I put on it. Great price, I would definitely recommend it.It does the job no doubt, but if you are looking to order your free weights (assuming you have a decent sized set) from low to high, you’ll be out of luck. I have free weights 5 - 45 lb increments of five lbs (18 dumbbells), and I leave off the light ones, which doesn’t bother me at all. I just wish I had I little more length to put, say, 35-40-45 all on one row. I can get creative and get them on the rack with most of the other lighter weights. Overall, I like my rack and glad I got it since I have no problem with putting lighter weights on the ground to make room. I’ll probably buy a second rack once the 5 - 60 lb set is filled out.Great piece of equipment to hold your weights! It is very easy to assemble but does require two people to do it!In General I'm happy with the Rack. Powder coating finish is nice and not prone to scratching. It seems to be very sturdy and stable. Assembly was very simple and took about 10 minutes, didn't bother to even open the instructions it was so simple. In summary, it is a nice rack and does exactly what I want it to doVery sturdy.I intended to buy a different marcy product of lesser price but glad went for this one. The frame is very sturdy. Not bulky and fits a small corner of living room. It is too big for any weights lesser than 5 lbs inspite of reversing the lip as the others have suggested. Do not buy if you only have smaller weights.I am quite happy with the purchase especially since my weights are going to stay in the living room forever after that pandemic.I ordered this rack about a week ago and it came yesterday, Oct. 17th. Very fast and free delivery. This is a very heavy duty rack and holds all but 2x15lb hex dumbbells. All my dumbbells are hexagon shape. On the bottom rack I have 2x80 and 2x70lb dumbbells. Middle rack - 2x60lb and 2x50lbs. Top rack I have 2x40, 2x30 and 2x20lb dumbbells. That's all that it holds. Very good product and easy to assemble. Just need a ratchet and a 16mm socket. I attached a photo.I was excited about the purchase of this dumbbell rack because of all the excellent reviews. Once assembled I realized that there is a glaring engineering issue with this rack that scuttles you storing any Hex Rubber dumbbells in weights less than the 10lbs.Rail Issue:The source of the problem is that the dumbbell rack rails are too tall and as a result the chrome handles of my smaller weight Rubber Hex Dumbbells rest on the steel rails of the dumbbell rack. The rubber Hex heads of the weights should be resting on the steel rails of the dumbbell rack, not the chrome handles. The contact between the chrome handles & the steel rail of the rack will lead to wear & tear/damage on both the dumbbell rack and my dumbbells.I was hoping that there was a manufacturing error in the size of the rails for the dumbbell rack I received because no other Amazon.ca customer has reported this same issue. In fact, in the Question/Answer section on Amazon, this very issue has been addressed: “Do the smaller 5lb and 10lb dumbbells sit on the rails properly or do the rails hit the chrome handles?”All the answers to this question suggest this was not an issue but it is with the rack I just purchased.Unfortunately, I then discovered that numerous customers on Amazon.com reported this as an issue. I’ve contacted Marcy about it, and they advised they would send me new rails, but the new rails are the same size as the first ones I received.I ended up resolving the issue regarding the smaller weights myself by cutting strips of heavy-duty rubber gym flooring which I placed on the rails to raise up the smaller dumbbells so that the chrome handles cleared the rails. The 51” 3-Tiered Dumbbell Rack I previously owned did not have this issue. It handled all my weights with no difficulty. I sold that rack because it was larger than I needed. I regret that now. The rails on the CAP rack were just high enough to create a lip and no more. It’s a simple engineering issue for Marcy to resolve this and save money in steel costs at the same time. The reviews for the CAP product were good but not as good as the Marcy offering. In all honesty I found the quality of the CAP rack better.Shipping Damage:The Marcy rack had a huge chip of paint missing in the main brace. It likely occurred during shipping, but the packaging was less protective than the other rack I purchased from Amazon.Rubber Feet:The Marcy rubber feet were thin and flimsy although the advertisement showed it came with heavy duty rubber feet like the previous rack I purchased through Amazon. I brought this to Marcy’s attention, and they shipped me new rubber feet, but they were the same flimsier version.Fit/Finish - Sturdiness:Both racks once assembled were more than sturdy enough to handle the dumbbells. The top rail on the previous rack I owned could be adjusted forward and back to fit different hand grip lengths of dumbbells. The Marcy rails were all fixed. The Marcy rack is more compact in the space it takes up from the wall. The previous rack I owned the base bar was a lot longer likely for structural rigidity because of its size. The downside of this is that the rack gets pushed further away from the wall taking up a bit more space. Both had great finishes and fit. The previous rack I owned had a shinier black hammered tone finish and the Marcy was more of a textured very dark grey satin finish.Assembly:The previous rack I owned took longer to assemble than the Marcy one.In the big scheme of things these issues are no big deal but the rail issue with the smaller dumbbells is a deal breaker for me. If it was not for the rail issue, Marcy makes a very durable dumbbell rack.I recently purchased a 10-30lb dumbbell set from Costco that came with a rack, and was able to also buy a set of 35-70lb dumbbells (missing 45 and 60 - so 6 dumbbells total) - I bought this rack for the other 6 dumbbells and wasn't sure if it would fit them or not based on their size since this rack seemed so cheap, but bought based on other reviews.Happy to say all dumbbells fit perfectly and looks great. Unlike other posters, I did not "flip" the bottom rail on each rack, my dumbbells fit fine with no issues getting out...however, I can see why doing this may help a bit sliding in/out for the heavier ones.It only took fifteen minutes to setup as well
which is another bonus. For the price this is a great rack. Will hold 5-45lb rubber coated hex dumbells in 5lb increments. 50lb dumbells have to sit on the floor. It was impossible to find a dumbell rack that could accommodate large dumbbells 50lbs and smaller that was actually rated for significant weight (safe), wasn't grotesquely to large for home, was affordable, was compact. The Marcy unit was easy to put together and is solid. It goes well with the rest of my Northern Lights Fitness Equipment. Fully 100% recommend this unit.I added two pictures to show the size of two 50lb dumbells in the lower rack and the clearance between rows.Should easily accommodate a 65lb dumbell. The space between the support brackets is approx 4 3/4 inches.
